Description

The SE10S eyepiece not only has 10x magnification, but it is also equipped with a scale for assessing the size of the sample or its structures in millimeters or microns. The scale is marked in 0.1mm divisions and it is located in the field diaphragm area of the eyepiece. Before you start measuring, calibrate the scale to the parameters of each objective that you plan to work with. Model SE10S is installed in a 30mm tube.

Calibration

Calibration is carried out using a calibration slide (a stage micrometer). Place it on the stage and focus the microscope on its scale, divided into 0.1mm segments. Then, rotate the eyepiece in the tube until the divisions on the eyepiece scale are parallel to the divisions on the calibration slide.

Calculation

To calibrate the eyepiece scale for the selected objective, use the formula:
E=TL/A, where
E – the division of the eyepiece scale
T – the division of the stage micrometer scale marked on the stage micrometer (0.01mm)
L – the number of divisions on the stage micrometer
A – the number of divisions on the eyepiece scale.

The E value must be written down for each objective. While measuring the sample, count the number of divisions on the eyepiece scale between the two desired points. Then, multiply this number by E. The result is the linear value of the measured object.
